AMES, Iowa ? Iowa State sophomore Whitney Williams has decided to transfer, head coach Bill Fennelly announced Tuesday. Williams will finish out the school year at Iowa State and is undecided on her future plans.

Whitney Williams informed me today that she has decided to transfer,” Fennelly said. “I appreciate her efforts on back-to-back Sweet 16 teams and wish her the best wherever she finishes her career.”

Williams played in all 69 contests in her two years at Iowa State, making 14 starts in her sophomore campaign. The Ft. Worth, Texas, native averaged 20 minutes a game and posted 5.9 points, one rebound and 1.6 assists per contest in 2009-10. She shot 40 percent from the field and ranked fourth in the Big 12 in three-point percentage, hitting at a 40 percent clip from long range. She also shot 87 percent from the charity stripe as a sophomore.

“My two years at Iowa State have been amazing,” Williams said. “They are memories I will never forget and I will always treasure. I've given it a lot of thought and a lot of prayer and I feel like I'm being led in another direction. I want to thank the coaches for giving me the opportunity to play here.”

Fennelly and Williams will have no further comment.
