Top ten teams in three preseason women’s college basketball polls, Xavier in the mix

Several preseason polls are out and Connecticut is the number one ranked team on all of them. Baylor, Stanford and Tennessee dominate the other top spots. However, mid-major powerhouse Xavier takes the number four spot on the Sporting News Top 10, ahead of Tennessee.

Baylor sophomore post Brittney Griner is listed as a preseason first-team All-American in all three publications. Griner set an NCAA blocked shot record as a freshman with 223 rejections. In addition, she recorded four dunks including two in one game. The Houston native averaged 18.4 points, 8.5 rebounds and 6.4 blocks a contest en route to attaining All-American status.
