Oh! The Places You'll Go! – Grade 2 Edition

"Congratulations! Today is your day. You’re off to Great Places! You’re off and away!"

In this workshop we'll focus on a few tried and true classroom tested teacher-friendly tools, spend some time getting our hands dirty using them and then adapt their use for your own class. We'll explore ways to enhance students' daily learning, connect students with each other while deepening their learning, and how to connect students to other students and educators across the globe. Whatever your level of experience using web-based tools you'll walk away with something you can use in your classroom tomorrow.

"And will you succeed? Yes! You will, indeed! (98 and ¾ percent guaranteed.)"

What Can I Do Now? (web 2.0 pedagogy – Math)

In this session, learn how math teachers can redesign their lessons to take advantage of social media and free tools available on the Internet.  Emphasizing pedagogy over tools, we’ll connect research-based pedagogy and 21st Century Learning skills to using either flickr, wikis, or VoiceThread and if time permits Google Maps and mashups of a great many more tools.  You’ll walk away with lots of ideas to give your lessons a Web 2.0 facelift. Please bring along your camera enabled cell phone.

iListen-iSpeak-iWrite-iLearn (World Languages)

We will explore ways to connect to others globally to investigate world languages.  Resources will be shared to help with oral language acquisition, finding and using podcasts, student generated video tutorials and more.

Come to this session with a resource or idea to share with the group.
