INDIANAPOLIS -- The IUPUI Athletics Department and Women’s Basketball Head Coach Shann Hart have announced that Brittany Korth has been named an assistant coach with the Jaguars. She will focus on opponent scouting, game-film breakdown, game preparation and strategy, and recruiting.
"I’m extremely honored for the opportunity to be at IUPUI," Korth said. "I remember playing against IUPUI and I am excited to be working for such an experienced head coach."
Korth was a four-year letterwinner for Cleveland State University, helping take the Vikings to their first-ever Horizon League Tournament title, earning All-Tournament Team honors as CSU clinched its NCAA Tournament berth in 2007-08.
The Vikings’ all-time leader in games played (120), Korth moved onto the Cleveland State bench in the 2008-09 season, serving the last two basketball seasons as a student assistant coach, finishing her master’s degree in sports management.
The Clinton, Wis.-native helped lead Cleveland State back to the NCAA Tournament in 2010, as the Vikings claimed their second Horizon League title, this time with Korth on the bench.
"Having had to prepare against Brittany, I know the kind of work ethic and talent she brought to the basketball court," Hart said. "She comes highly recommended from Cleveland State, where her winning pedigree carried into coaching. I’m looking forward to her success helping to set the expectation of winning at IUPUI."
Korth was named to the Horizon League All-Newcomer Team in her freshman season at Cleveland State and finished her career ranked second in three-point field goals (166) and three-pointers attempted (583). The former guard is third in games started (99) and fifth in assists (350)
The IUPUI women’s basketball team will announce their 2010-11 campaign in the coming months.
