Christian Bale won an Oscar for his performance of jailed boxer Dicky Eklund in The Fighter. But the scene where a distraught Eklund tries to walk out of prison, following the television airing of a disastrous documentary, never made it into the film.
In the scene, the visibly distraught Eklund is eventually agrees to go back to his jail cell.
Besides the Oscar, the emotionally-charged role also earned Bale a Golden Globe, SAG and National Board of Review award for best supporting actor.
With the release of the DVD and Blu-ray, it can finally be seen. The Fighter debuts in a two-disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo Pack and on VOD March 15 from Paramount Home Entertainment.
The Blu-ray/DVD Combo also includes “Keeping The Faith”, the real-life story of boxer Micky Ward (played by Mark Wahlberg) and Dicky as told by family and friends, deleted scenes and a digital copy of the film.
