Also at world's biggest animation fest: Rita et Machin, Midori-ko, Buddha, Harlock

France's Annecy, the world's largest animation film festival, announced that Keiichi Hara's Colorful (pictured at right) and Masayuki Kojima's Tibetan Dog (pictured below) will compete in the Feature Film category of the June 6-11 event. Colorful follows a person who is brought back to life in the body of a 14-year-old boy — who just committed suicide. Madhouse's Tibetan Dog recounts the coming-of-age of a boy from the cities who suddenly must live in Tibet.

Jun Takagi's Rita et Machin (Rita and Whatsit) anime episode "Going to School!" will compete in the Television Series category, while Masaki Yokobe's "Christmas" video for the rock band amazarashi will run in the Music Video category. The festival will also screen Keita Kurosaka's Midori-ko film, Kōzō Morishita's Tezuka Osamu no Buddha - Akai Sabaku yo! Utsukushiku- film, and Takeuchi Taijin's "Sakana ni ni ta uta" short out of competition. Toei Animation's recent Space Pirate Captain Harlock (Albator - Space Pirate) remake project will be screened in the Work in Progress category.
