Purdue sophomore forward Ashley Wilson academically ineligible for the spring semester

Purdue sophomore forward Ashley Wilson (Wheeling, Ill.) is academically ineligible for the spring semester and will not play for the rest of the season.

Purdue head coach Sharon Versyp made the announcement about the 6-foot sophomore Tuesday morning.

“We’re disappointed that Ashley did not meet her goals in the classroom, but we’re confident that she will use this time to get back on track,” said Purdue head coach Sharon Versyp in a statement. “It’s been a tough year for Ashley, and her energy and talent on the basketball court will be missed. We’re fortunate that we have the depth this season to help absorb the loss. She will remain an important part of our team even if she will not be competing the rest of the season, and we will continue to do everything possible to support her success as a student-athlete.”

Wilson played in 12 games this season and averaged 5.3 points and 3.9 rebounds. She missed forward missed the first four games of the season while recovering from a second surgery on her lower right leg.
