Taylor married 23-year old hotel heir Conrad "Nicky" HIlton at the age of 18 on May 6, 1950 (pictured here on June 10 during their 14-week European honeymoon). The duo's union was short-lived and they divorced less than a year later on Jan. 29, 1951, with the actress citing "extreme cruelty" in her divorce petition.
Michael Wilding
Her next foray into marriage was with Wilding, the British actor she met while filming the period-film Ivanhoe in England. Though 20 years her senior, the pair, who married Feb. 21, 1952, were together nearly five years and had two sons, Michael (born Jan. 6, 1953) and Christopher (born Feb. 27, 1955) together before splitting Jan. 26, 1957.
Mike Todd
The actress' third marriage ended in tragedy when power producer Mike Todd, who she wed Feb. 2, 1957 and had a daughter, Elizabeth "Liza" (born Aug. 6, 1957), crashed his plane ("the Liz") on a New Mexico mountaintop and was killed March 22, 1958. "God, I loved him," she wrote in her 1988 autobiography Elizabeth Takes Off.
Eddie Fisher
After Todd's death, Taylor turned to her late husband's friend, Eddie Fisher for comfort. The singer was married to actress Debbie Reynolds at the time, and the duo's affair caused scandalous headlines. They were married May 12, 1959 and the union lasted nearly five years, until Taylor left him for her Cleopatra co-star Richard Burton.
Richard Burton
Taylor's affair with Burton, who was also married, on the set of Cleopatra made worldwide headlines–even the Vatican issued a statement. After ending their marriages, the pair said "I do" on March 15, 1964. The decade-long relationship continued to make headlines for both their extravagance (he bought her a 69.42-carat pear-shape diamond, later dubbed the Taylor-Burton Diamond) and their stormy fights (they were dubbed "The Battling Burtons"). The pair divorced June 26, 1974 after having a daughter, Maria (born Aug. 1, 1961), but remarried a year later Oct. 10, 1975. Their second union lasted less than a year and they called it quits again July 29, 1976. "I love Richard Burton with every fibre of my soul, but we can't be together," Taylor said of the Welsh actor.
John Warner
She left Hollywood suitors behind for Virginia Republican John Warner, who she walked down the isle with Dec. 4, 1976. She helped Warner with his Senate campaign and he was elected in 1979. But, the actress became unhappy with their life in politics and they divorced Nov. 7, 1982.
Larry Fortensky
The famous actress's seventh–and last– husband was construction worker Larry Fortensky, who she met while both were being treated at the Betty Ford Clinic. They were married Oct. 6, 1991 at Taylor-pal Michael Jackson's Neverland Ranch. After calling it quits five years later Oct. 31, 1996, Taylor vowed never to marry again, though clarified she was not done with men. "I said I'm through with marriage, but I'm not through with men — that wouldn't be realistic."
