Celebration of Women and the Steelpan Art Form
Amenti Quashie Francis
England, UK - “Music
is literally in my blood… in fact, it’s in my soul… my soul
sings through music. Music has been an important part of my life
because of my relationship with healing through sound. We are
born through sound and when we die music is played to walk us
home, so a life without music can never be......” -- Amenti
Francis
Known as “The Priestess of Pan,” she successfully juggles every
aspect of Pan - spiritually, mentally and physically. In an
exclusive interview with When Steel Talks - panist, performing
artist, teacher, speaker Amenti Quashie Francis shares her

Panorama – The Real Carnival All-Inclusive
An Opinion
by Garvin Blake
Trinidad & Tobago, W.I. -
Panorama is never short on drama. This year (2024) was no
exception. A first-place tie and a last-place judgment have
generated endless debate. But despite the annual tension,
frustration and hints of conspiracy, the competition continues
to resonate with the people, regardless of their socioeconomic
status.

Facebook got it wrong - Meta World and WST & SteelPan Are
Friends Again
Facebook “Likes” sends PanOnTheNet Apology - “We got it
wrong”
Metaverse - Facebook got it
wrong. About three years ago without warning or reason all WST
(When Steel Talks) steelpan-related accounts fell out of favor
with the social media giant Facebook now known as Meta and its
aligned consortiums (Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp). Because
WST has all of our material hosted on our own shared servers,
this ‘tag’ was not incurable or as problematic as it could have
been. However, it was annoying to have people seeking critical
steelpan music info diverted by Facebook AI (artificial
intelligence).
