BERKELEY, Calif. – In her first trip to Haas Pavilion, Oregon freshman point guard Ariel Thomas orchestrated the Ducks 60-46 victory over California on Thursday night.

Thomas scored a game and career-high 21 points as the Sacramento, Calif., native's four 3-pointers were also a new career best.

With the win, the Ducks' (13-13, 4-11) current seven-game losing streak was snapped as California's (14-13, 6-10) drought was extended to six straight games. Oregon remains ninth in the Pac-10 Conference standings while the Bears fall to seventh.

Junior Amanda Johnson recorded her seventh double-double of the season with 13 points and a team-leading 11 rebounds, while freshman Deanna Weaver added 13 points as well.

After Oregon led by 19 early on in the second half, Cal closed 55-46 with 4:08 to play.

But senior Kristi Fallin had the answer, and knocked down her third 3-pointer of the second half. The Roseburg, Ore., native followed with a steal on the defensive end that led to a Johnson bucket as the Ducks regained the momentum with 2:26 to play. Neither team scored for the remainder of the game.

Oregon opened the second half on a 10-2 run taking a 42-23 lead with 15:02 play after Fallin drained a 3-pointer on the wing, and Weaver scored the first five points of the second half for the Ducks.

Cal was led by DeNesha Stallwoth's 12 points while Talia Caldwell recorded her sixth double-double of the season with 10 points and a game-high 20 rebounds.

Oregon also snapped a 10-game losing streak to Cal as the Ducks had last posted a win over the Bears on Feb. 15, 2007. The Ducks had not beaten Cal in Berkeley since Feb. 26, 2005 – a stretch of five years.

Cal's 46 points was a new Oregon opponent season low, and the Bears' .213 (17-of-80) shooting percentage was a Bears' and Oregon opponent season low. Oregon last held Cal to 46 points or less in a 62-42 victory on Feb. 15, 2007 in Eugene.

Oregon was dominant in the first half of play heading into the locker room leading 32-21 at the break.

The Ducks held a slim 17-16 advantage with 9:54 on the clock, but held Cal scoreless for over six minutes as Oregon took a 28-16 lead on an 11-0 run that included 3-pointers from Thomas, Weaver and Danielle Love.

Rama N'diaye finally broke Cal's scoreless drought with an inside bucket as 3:27 remained in the first period. 

Thomas led Oregon with 14 points in the first half, knocking a career-high three baskets from long distance.

Oregon shot 34.4 percent (11-of-32) from the floor in the first period, but held Cal to a .191 (9-of-47) shooting percentage in the first 20 minutes.

Oregon is back in action at 2 p.m., Saturday to take on No. 2 Stanford at Maples Pavilion. The Cardinal has won 19 straight.

The Ducks return to Eugene next week and will host Arizona and Arizona State as Oregon closes out the regular season at Matthew Knight Arena.

The Sun Devils are in town Thursday, March 3 (7 p.m.) followed by the Wildcats on Saturday, March 5 (2 p.m.) as Oregon will honor its senior class prior to game time. The Ducks will be saying goodbye to Nicole Canepa, Kristi Fallin, Candyce Flynn, Ellyce Ironmonger, Victoria Kenyon and Tatianna Thomas.
