We’re so glad you are considering a partnership with Reading Corps in Family Child Care. Before submitting your application please read through the provider expectations and benefits to make sure a partnership would fit with your childcare.

As part of the Reading Corps in Family Child Care, you will receive at no cost:

• Early language and literacy training with an ongoing Professional Learning Community.
• Continual coaching supports.
• Individualized student assessment data.
• Individualized tutoring for children.
• Family engagement supports.
• A library of children’s books and literacy materials.

Please read the expectations below. You must agree to:

• Participate from August 2021 – June 2022.
• Attend training one evening per month (6:00-9:00 pm) with other child care providers.
• Two visits per week from a Reading Corps coach. During weekly visits, the coach will either implement tutoring activities with children OR facilitate a coaching session with you.
• Participate in the coaching process (observation, coaching, and goal-setting) with your Reading Corps coach two times per month.
• Be actively present with children while the Reading Corps coach implements Reading Corps activities.
• One visit per week from a Reading Corps AmeriCorps member, who will focus on talking, reading, writing, and counting with children during afternoon routines.
• Learn, practice, and begin using newly-learned early literacy and numeracy strategies.
• Use the provided Reading Corps curriculum and lesson plans.
• Allow Reading Corps to do pre and post environmental assessments.
• Allow Reading Corps to do quick and fun literacy and numeracy assessments with children.
• Communicate and engage with families about the project, including hosting family engagement events.
• Communicate regularly with Reading Corps staff.
