There's only one week left in the college football season.

Auburn and Oregon will conclude the year playing in the BCS National Championship next Tuesday in Glendale, Arizona. It will feature a matchup of Heisman Trophy winner Cam Newton and Heisman finalist LaMichael James, who announced he will return to the Ducks next season. Newton, meanwhile, is rumored to declare for the NFL Draft, where he is predicted to be a first-round pick.

If Newton returns, that could change things significantly when it comes to predicting the Top 25 for 2011. Same goes for numerous other players and teams.

Here is an early look at next year's Top 25:

25. Tulsa

Quarterback G.J. Kinne and wide receiver Damaris Johnson return to lead one of the nation's most high-powered offenses. Pay attention to freshman running back Trey Watts, the son of former Oklahoma quarterback and U.S. Congressman J.C. Watts.

Trey finished this season with 197 yards rushing, with one touchdown. He also had 20 catches for 172 yards and two touchdowns.

24. Michigan

Will Rich Rod be back? The coaching saga remains a hot topic, but Denard Robinson will return as one of the most dynamic playmakers in college football.

23. Connecticut

GLENDALE, AZ - JANUARY 01: Zach Frazer #10 of the Connecticut Huskies looks to throw the ball to Jordan Todman #23 of the Connecticut Huskies in the second half during the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl at the Universtity of Phoenix Stadium on January 1, 2011 in G

Even though Randy Edsall bolted for Maryland, the foundation is in place for continued success. Robbie Frey will take over for running back Jordan Todman, who is expected to declare for the NFL Draft.

22. Mississippi State

Dan Mullen was rumored for jobs at Miami and Florida, but he's remained in Starkville. Pay attention to the Bulldogs, who finished this year 8-4, including a 52-14 win over Michigan in the Gator Bowl.

21. Georgia

Time will tell if head coach Mark Richt stays, and if he can turn around the Bulldogs after finishing this year 6-7.

20. Missouri

COLUMBIA, MO - NOVEMBER 13: Quarterback James Franklin #1 of the Missouri Tigers carries the ball during the game against the Kansas State Wildcats on November 13, 2010 at Faurot Field/Memorial Stadium in Columbia, Missouri. (Photo by Jamie Squire/Getty

Freshman James Franklin (pictured) and redshirt freshman Tyler Gabbert will battle for the starting quarterback position. Tyler's older brother, Blaine Gabbert, is skipping his senior year and has declared himself eligible for the NFL Draft.

19. Notre Dame

EL PASO, TX - DECEMBER 30: Running back Cierre Wood #20 of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish celebrates a touchdown against the Miami Hurricanes during the Hyundai Sun Bowl at Sun Bowl on December 30, 2010 in El Paso, Texas. (Photo by Ronald Martinez/Getty

It will be interesting to see how the Fighting Irish build off their 8-5 record and Sun Bowl victory in Brian Kelly's first season. Cincinnati kept improving each year under Kelly. Hard to see why Notre Dame can't do the same.

18. Ohio State

8 of 25

COLUMBUS, OH - NOVEMBER 27: Quarterback Terrelle Pryor #2 of the Ohio State Buckeyes gets ready to call the play in the huddle against the Michigan Wolverines at Ohio Stadium on November 27, 2010 in Columbus, Ohio. (Photo by Jamie Sabau/Getty Images)

Quarterback Terrelle Pryor, running back Dan Herron and wide receiver DeVier Posey are among the five players who will be suspended for the first five games of the season. Things could start off pretty rocky for the Buckeyes.

17. South Carolina

9 of 25

ATLANTA - DECEMBER 04: Running back Marcus Lattimore #21 of the South Carolina Gamecocks runs with the ball during the 2010 SEC Championship against the Auburn Tigers at Georgia Dome on December 4, 2010 in Atlanta, Georgia. (Photo by Mike Zarrilli/Getty

Marcus Lattimore and Stephen Garcia helped lead the Gamecocks to the SEC Championship Game. Now the Gamecocks will be the team to beat in the SEC East, and Lattimore should receive consideration for the Heisman Trophy.

16. Florida State

10 of 25

JACKSONVILLE, FL - JANUARY 01: Quarterback E.J. Manuel #3 of the Florida State Seminoles scrambles against the West Virginia Mountaineers during the Konica Minolta Gator Bowl on January 1, 2010 at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida.

Christian Ponder is a senior, so E.J. Manuel (pictured) will take the reigns at quarterback. He'll have two reliable options returning as well in Chris Thompson (699 yards rushing, five touchdowns) and Bert Reed (614 yards receiving).

15. TCU

11 of 25

PASADENA, CA - JANUARY 01: Guard Josh Vernon #78 of the TCU Horned Frogs jogs off the field prior to playing the Wisconsin Badgers in the 97th Rose Bowl game on January 1, 2011 in Pasadena, California. (Photo by Stephen Dunn/Getty Images)

It may be too low, but the Horned Frogs are also losing several key veterans from this team, including four-year starting quarterback Andy Dalton.

14. Virginia Tech

12 of 25

MIAMI, FL - JANUARY 03: The Virginia Tech Hokies huddel in the endzone prior to playing against the Stanford Cardinal during the 2011 Discover Orange Bowl at Sun Life Stadium on January 3, 2011 in Miami, Florida. Stanford won 40-12. (Photo by Mike Ehrman
    Mike Ehrmann/Getty Images

Will Logan Thomas have what it takes to replace standout quarterback Tyrod Taylor? This program has been so consistently successful that it shouldn't be an issue, and the Hokies will be right back contending for another ACC championship.

13. Nebraska

13 of 25

ARLINGTON, TX - DECEMBER 04: Quarterback Taylor Martinez #3 of the Nebraska Cornhuskers looks for an open receiver against the Oklahoma Sooners at Cowboys Stadium on December 4, 2010 in Arlington, Texas. The Sooners beat the Cornhuskers 23-20. (Photo by
    Tom Pennington/Getty Images

What had been a great year ended with a thud for the Cornhuskers, which lost to Oklahoma in the Big 12 Championship and to Washington after that. Now Taylor Martinez and Rex Burkhead will get a chance to help the Cornhuskers rebound in their first season in the Big Ten.

12. Boise State

14 of 25

LAS VEGAS, NV - DECEMBER 22: Quarterback Kellen Moore #11 of the Boise State Broncos warms up before playing against the Utah Utes in the MAACO Bowl Las Vegas at Sam Boyd Stadium December 22, 2010 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Boise State Won 26-3. (Photo by Et
    Ethan Miller/Getty Images

If Kellen Moore doesn't declare for the NFL Draft, consider him a definite favorite for the Heisman Trophy.

11. Wisconsin

15 of 25

PASADENA, CA - JANUARY 01: Running back John Clay #32 of the Wisconsin Badgers rushes with the ball against the TCU Horned Frogs in the fourth quarter of the 97th Rose Bowl game on January 1, 2011 in Pasadena, California. (Photo by Stephen Dunn/Getty Im
    Stephen Dunn/Getty Images

Quarterback Scott Tolzien is a senior, but the Badgers will return its trio of talented runners in James White (1,029 yards rushing), John Clay (936) and Montee Ball (864).

10. Oklahoma State

16 of 25

STILLWATER, OK - NOVEMBER 27: Quarterback Brandon Weeden #3 of the Oklahoma State Cowboys walks off the field after failing to make a first down against the Oklahoma Sooners at Boone Pickens Stadium on November 27, 2010 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. (Photo b
    Tom Pennington/Getty Images

Quarterback Brandon Weeden (pictured) should return, but he'll be without running back Kendall Hunter and wide receiver Justin Blackmon. This year, though, the Cowboys were predicted to finish next-to-last in the Big 12 South and wound up as co-champs with Oklahoma and Texas A&M.

May not be wise to underestimate them again.

9. Michigan State

17 of 25

STATE COLLEGE, PA - NOVEMBER 27: Running back Edwin Baker #4 of the Michigan State Spartans carries the ball during a game against the Penn State Nittany Lions on November 27, 2010 at Beaver Stadium in State College, Pennsylvania. The Spartans won 28-22.(

Gotta love how Spartans fans were confident they would take down Alabama, and that they truly were a Top 10 team. The Big Ten champs got crushed 49-7 in the Capital One Bowl, but quarterback Kirk Cousins and running back Edwin Baker will return.

8. Arkansas

18 of 25

COLUMBIA, SC - NOVEMBER 06: Knile Davis #7 of the Arkansas Razorbacks pushes away from Josh Dickerson #41 of the South Carolina Gamecocks during their game at Williams-Brice Stadium on November 6, 2010 in Columbia, South Carolina. (Photo by Streeter Lec

Ryan Mallett will head to the NFL, which means Tyler Wilson will get his chance at quarterback. Wilson filled in and and showed he could handle things just fine when Mallett was injured in the Auburn game. He'll also have talented runner Knile Davis in the backfield with him.

7. Texas A&M

19 of 25

AUSTIN, TX - NOVEMBER 25: Quarterback Ryan Tannehill #17 of Texas A&M during the game against University of Texas in the first half at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium on November 25, 2010 in Austin, Texas. (Photo by Darren Carroll/Getty Images)

It will definitely be interesting to see what Cyrus Gray and Ryan Tannehill can do now that they've developed such good chemistry this season.

6. Stanford

20 of 25

MIAMI, FL - JANUARY 03: Stepfan Taylor #33 of the Stanford Cardinal runs the ball against Davon Morgan #2 of the Virginai Tech Hokies during the 2011 Discover Orange Bowl at Sun Life Stadium on January 3, 2011 in Miami, Florida. (Photo by Streeter Lecka
    Streeter Lecka/Getty Images

If Andrew Luck decides to return, everything changes and you'll probably move the Cardinal up to No. 2. But they're still a talented team, and running back Stepfan Taylor will return after rushing for 1,137 yards this season.

5. LSU

21 of 25

BATON ROUGE, LA - NOVEMBER 20: The Louisiana State University Tigers enter the stadium to face the Ole Miss Rebels at Tiger Stadium on November 20, 2010 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. (Photo by Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images)
    Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images

The Tigers definitely aren't lacking in the talent department, and will be hurt with the loss of Patrick Peterson to the NFL. But it would be wise to get a new offensive coordinator.

4. Alabama

22 of 25

Mark Ingram and Julio Jones are headed to the NFL, but keep your eyes on Trent Richardson, who has the same kind of playmaking ability and will be one of the nation's top returning running backs in 2011.

3. Oregon

23 of 25

CORVALLIS, OR - DECEMBER 4: Running back LaMichael James #21 of the Oregon Ducks runs with the ball in the second quarter of the game against the the Oregon State Beavers at Reser Stadium on December 4, 2010 in Corvallis, Oregon. The Ducks beat the Beaver

LaMichael James and Darron Thomas will keep things humming for the Ducks, who open the season against LSU at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

2. Oklahoma

24 of 25

GLENDALE, AZ - JANUARY 01: Quarterback Landry Jones #12 of the Oklahoma Sooners and offensive MVP celebrates the Sooners 48-20 victory against the Connecticut Huskies during the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl at the Universtity of Phoenix Stadium on January 1, 201
    Tom Pennington/Getty Images

Landry Jones returns, and the Sooners will be loaded with talent on both sides of the ball. Oklahoma finally ended its BCS jinx this season, so will 2011 be the year the Sooners finally win another national title?

1. Auburn

25 of 25

ATLANTA, GA - DECEMBER 04: Quarterback Cam Newton #2 of the Auburn Tigers talks to CBS sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson after winning the MVP trophy in their 56-17 win over the South Carolina Gamecocks during the 2010 SEC Championship at Georgia Dome on D

I'll call my shot now: Auburn wins the national championship over Oregon, and Cam Newton then announces he's returning for his final year.
