Kabul, Afghanistan (CNN) -- The deputy governor of Afghanistan's Kandahar province was killed in a suicide attack Saturday, a government official said.

Abdul Latif Ashna was killed and his driver was wounded in Kandahar City on Saturday morning, said Zalmai Ayoubi, a spokesman for the governor.

Along with the driver, two others were injured, according to governmental media and information center of Kandahar.

The attacker strapped a bomb to a motorcycle and drove near the deputy governor's car when he was on his way to the office.
