Japanese Box Office, March 26-27

Three weekends after the Great Eastern Japan Earthquake (Higashi Nihon Daishinsai) disaster, the top 30 films at the Japanese box office only dipped 1.1% despite the delay of some new films. The current movies continued to add more screens as theaters reopened after the earthquake.

Doraemon: Shin Nobita to Tetsujin Heidan - Habatake Tenshi-tachi, Yukiyo Teramoto and Shinei Animation's remake of the 1986 film Doraemon: Nobita to Tetsujin Heidan (Doraemon: Nobita and the Platoon of Iron Men), stayed at #2 in its fourth weekend on Kogyo Tsushinsha's chart. On Box Office Mojo's chart, it dropped from #2 to #3 and earned the equivalent of US$2,364,221 (4.2% increase over the previous weekend) on 309 screens (34 more than the previous weekend) for a total-to-date of US$16,664,423.

Precure All-Stars DX3 Mirai ni Todoke! Sekai o Tsunagu Niji-Iro no Hana, Takashi Otsuka's third film to combine the casts of all the Pretty Cure (Precure) magical girl television series to date, dropped from #3 to #4 in its second weekend on Kogyo Tsushinsha's chart. On Box Office Mojo's chart, it stayed at #4 with US$1,625,135 on 149 screens (19 more than the previous weekend) for a gross-to-date of US$4,963,944.

Jump Heroes Film, the double-billing of Toriko 3D: Kaimaku Gourmet Adventure!! and One Piece 3D: Mugiwara Chase, dropped from #7 to #8 in its second weekend on Kogyo Tsushinsha's chart. On Box Office Mojo's chart, it stayed at #7 and added US$1,029,024 on 139 screens (14 more than the previous weekend) to its total of US$3,977,257.

Macross Frontier: Sayonara no Tsubasa, the second anime film based on Shōji Kawamori and Satelight's Macross Frontier science-fiction series, rose from #11 to #10 in its fifth weekend. It earned US$396,850 (19.2% increase over the previous weekend) on 37 screens (4 more than the previous weekend) for a gross-to-date of US$5,792,000.

The stereoscopic 3D conversion of Kenji Kamiyama and Production I.G's Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex: Solid State Society movie opened at #11 with US$285,268 on nine screens.

The first film in Shinsuke Satō's live-action adaptation of Hiroya Oku's Gantz action manga fell from #10 to #12 in its ninth weekend. It earned US$274,365 on 257 screens (20 more than the previous weekend) to add to its total of US$40,177,110.

Gekijō-ban Anime Nintama Rantaro Ninjutsu Gakuen Zenin Shutsudō! no Dan, the film based on the ninja comedy television anime Nintama Rantaro, slipped from #13 to #14 in its third weekend. It earned US$218,390 on 118 screens (18 more than the previous weekend for a total of US$1,170,291.

The #1 film for the third weekend is the live-action drama spinoff SP Kakumei-Hen.
