Mildly entertaining
Comment: This review is written by an older guy from the "free love" Emerson Lake and Palmer, Black Sabbath, Yes, and Beatles generation. I don't usually watch "chick flicks", but i'm a movie collector, so some "get through". This film is a (hard core) formula movie for this genres (chick flick). I have to say that when this movie started I couldn't help but think how "prissy and "gay-like" (the new generation depicted by this movie...) was looking and acting. As the story started to go... it started to become entertaining. One thing that I just couldn't get past was the casual way people had sex with each other. I mean even back in my day of "free love" (despite what you may of heard or read) when you were "boning a girl" you liked, you didn't pass her around like a reefer (as some of the characters were doing). My "distilled" comment for this movie is that if you strip away all the "fluff" around the main story it is somewhat entertaining. Is it believable or true to life... not a chance in hell. Please don't "flame mail" me as some have done in the past. This is a "free and open" venue for us to express our opinions. Thank You.

I remember the first time I saw the trailer do not just this film but it's counterparts starring the Stars soon to be wife and the one he Punk'd. I thought it was so insane that by the very end of it they have to be a part of movies with the exact same plot. Then it was a bit of a competition of which one was better or which one would do better. Now I never took the time out to pay attention to any of that but I knew which one I would want to see for the other. Believe it or not it wasn't this one but instead the other one. I ended up seeing it many years later only to find myself hating it more than I expected it to. I thought it would be one of the more fun romantic comedies but it became far more cliche than it had any right to be as well as a bit disgusting to me. Not that disgusting but still. I would go as far as the offensive but I've seen more offensive films. This movie does have some level of that but it hit me in a way very different in comparison to its other counterpart. Plus it's weird for me to say that I like the characters hear more in comparison to the other characters from its counterpart friends with benefits. Plus it also had some subplot points that I genuinely enjoyed. By the very end of it I found myself liking it if not loving the film. I always go by a rule that if that happens to be the case then I watch it again to see if it sticks even more and it did. This is why we here now. I'm purchasing the movie on DVD as a part of my collection because I genuinely can say I enjoyed this movie so now that it is here I can thoroughly say how pleased I am to have this. I would admit that the weird time changes of when it was coming did make me feel a bit antsy but regardless I'm happy to have this.

I was dubious about this movie because I'm not a fan of Ashton Kutcher and couldn't imagine him as a rom com lead that I would want to watch. I was wrong. He and Natalie Portman (Adam and Emma in the film) make an appealing seemingly mismatched couple, have good comic chops, and despite all the negative comments, they're hot together. The viewers who say they have no chemistry are a puzzle.

The movie isn't perfect; it could've used some editing to speed up the beginning, for example, and not every scene works, but both the leads and the supporting cast have charm and heart, the sex scenes work, and the scene where Emma confesses to her sister that she cares about Adam is a gem. Be patient through the slow beginning (15-16 minutes). Don't watch this with your Southern Baptist aunt. And don't miss the scenes at the end after the credits start.

People sometimes compare this movie to Friends with Benefits (Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis), but those rating Friends with Benefits higher are not seeing the same movie as I am. Mila Kunis is a gifted comedian, but Justin Timberlake isn't a comic actor or a romantic lead. He's the male sidekick who doesn't get the girl. FwB is the truly simple, formulaic rom com, with a flash dance thrown in at the end just to make the romantic reunion that much more unbelievable. Try No Strings instead or see them both and make up your own mind.

I have seen 'Friends With Benefits' at least half a dozen times. I have only watched 'No Strings Attached' twice - I came to see it a second time to test my reactions to it - they were the same as the first viewing. This movie is worth seeing if you are an Ashton Kuther fan. For the rest, it's a bit cliche-ridden - from the gay dads to the gay doc to the horn dog heterosexual dad. Is there a mother somewhere? We'll never know.

'Friends With Benefits' is a better film but JT is no AK. Sexy enough, and sweet enough. But no hunky AK.

This movie is great for passing the time, but its target audience is really the very young of dating age. There's a sitcom feel to it. Sitcoms are all about cliches, too - and still likeable.

If you never watched this before then just buy it. I really enjoy watching a couple times a year and always recommend it . It’s an endearing movie that as a diehard Romantic guy if a girl DIDNT like it I would be concerned 👀😇

At least this Blu Ray worked, even though it had some scratches! I do love this movie, and have always liked watching it. I was so mad I had sold it, but that was on DVD, so I planned on going over to Blu Ray when I finally got a Blu Ray player. That's why I sold most of my DVD's that I could, and kept what places wouldn't take, and started buying all Blu Ray. At least I realized now I guess I have to pay more money to get a Blu Ray that is in good condition, even though I know that's not always necessarily true. Some movies haven't even come out on Blu Ray yet, so I wound up having to buy some of my movies again on DVD that I loved. That's not very many though.

Honestly, I watched this to get some insights into the mind of Liz Meriwether who also created the show New Girl. However, being that this is a movie the other is a TV show it's really hard to compare. In any case, it was a decent Rom-Com. I wouldn't say it was the best I ever saw but it wasn't bad. The one line at the end from Ashton Kutcher's character was sweet and sort of made the movie. I got frustrated with the Natalie Portman character who just seemed like the typical "I can have meaningless sex" female. Somehow media always makes it seem like these type of women are so totally evolved and somehow smarter than other woman who feel sex is a little more important. Anyway, it was okay and sort of cute. I love Jake Johnson and he made it worth it too.
