The Penn State women's basketball team is off to a strong start under coach Coquese Washington of Flint.

The Nittany Lions

in their final game of the Caribbean Challenge held in Riviera Maya, Mexico to improve to 6-1 on the season. Maggie Lucas led Penn State 17 points, and on Monday was named the Big Ten Conference Freshman of the Week.

is in her fourth season at Penn State, where she has a 47-51 career record. Penn State finished 17-14 last season and earned a WNIT berth.

A graduate of Flint Central, Washington went on to star in college at Notre Dame and professionally in the WNBA. She was
