Haman resigns, Middleton named interim head coach

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. — Andrew Haman announced his resignation as head coach of the Lincoln women's basketball program, effective immediately. Assistant coach Kisha Middleton has been named the interim head coach for the remainder of the 2010-11 season. She becomes the eighth head coach in the program's history.

“I look forward to the next chapter of my life,” Haman said. “I wish Kisha the best as she continues the work that we started together, and I know that the players will continue to work hard for her.”

Haman came to Lincoln prior to the 2004-05 year and brought Middleton on board as his assistant. Together, they helped transition the Lady Lions from NCAA Division III to Division II. Their best season came in 2006-07 in a 19-8 campaign. Last season, Lincoln defeated rival Cheyney University, 62-52, for the first time in the 18-year history of the Battle of the Firsts Classic.

“We would like to thank coach Haman for his years of service,” said Lincoln Director of Athletics Dianthia Ford-Kee. “We wish him the best in his future endeavors.”

Middleton and Haman knew each other prior to their days at Lincoln. Haman recruited Middleton while he was an assistant at Cheyney. Ultimately, she chose Division I Robert Morris.

Following her collegiate career, she played semi-professional basketball in the Women's American Basketball Association for the Wilmington Jaguars followed by a stint on the Delaware Destroyers of the Eastern Basketball Association in 2004.

“I've learned a lot from coach Haman over the years on and off the court,” she said. “He is and will continue to be a great friend. I look forward to this opportunity and getting these talented girls ready for the second half of the season and the start of the conference schedule in January.”

Prior to joining Lincoln, she was an assistant coach at Bryn Mawr High School for two seasons. She holds a Bachelor's of Science degree in sports management from Robert Morris and is a 2008 graduate of the NCAA Women Coaches Academy.

The Lady Lions (0-6) resume their first season as active Division II and CIAA members on Jan. 4 when they travel to Takoma Park, Md., to face Washington Adventist University. The game tips off at 5 p.m.
