Japan's Animation Blu-ray Disc Ranking, March 21-27

posted on by Egan Loo
Last K-ON!! BD's 2nd week at #1, Yosuga no Sora, Zetsubō, SoraOto, Zombie, Panty & Stocking in top 10

The limited first pressing for the ninth and final Blu-ray Disc volume of the K-ON!! television anime series ranked #1 on Oricon's sales chart for a second consecutive week. It did so by selling an additional 10,000 copies (rounded to the nearest thousand) during the March 21-27 week. The ninth volume is also the third one in a row and the 10th one in the franchise to rank #1. The K-ON! franchise now holds the sole record for the most #1 Blu-ray Discs of any anime, after sharing it last month with Macross Frontier (nine #1s).

The limited special edition of Tensō Sentai Goseiger vs. Shinkenger Epic on Ginmaku, the live-action special-effects film with heroes from Toei's 33rd and 34th Super Sentai series, dropped from #14 to #17 in its second week.

The second volume of the Kamen Rider OOO television series moved up from #23 to #19 in its second week.

[There are gaps in the chart above because non-animated Blu-ray Disc releases are not included.

SoundScan Japan derives its charts from the point-of-sale systems of 41,000 media stores and e-commerce sites throughout Japan. SoundScan Japan's methods of surveying home video sales are different from those of the competing firm Oricon, which often lead to differing results between the two.

Neither firm directly posts more data for weekly sales than what is listed here. Any purportedly additional data comes from unverified, anonymous sources.]
