Imaginary Range with Final Fantasy staffers is in Japanese, English, French

The game developer Square Enix released a hybrid game/comic app called Imaginary Range for iOS devices such as the Apple iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad devices on Thursday. The app is presented as a full-color electronic comic with mini-games that readers can play as they progress through the story. The application is available worldwide in Japanese, English, and French on Apple's App Store.

The story is set in France, which is being attacked by a mysterious huge lifeform known as Omega. A psychotherapist named Cid uncovers the true nature of the world in the midst of battles in both reality and dreams. The player can unlock extra comic commentary, the standalone game mode, and Gallery mode items.

Sōki Tsukishima (emeth ~Ningyō Tsukai no Shima~) wrote the game, and Motomu Toriyama (Final Fantasy XIII) served as the director. Toshiyuki Itahana (Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles franchise's character designer) was responsible for the art in the comic portion.

Square Enix posted two videos of the app on its blog:
