Savory Spice Shop

The European-stylings of the new Lafayette Village in North Raleigh have beckoned me and one of the shops I’ve had the pleasure of checking out is Savory Spice Shop. Hubs and I stopped by on one of our romps around the village just to browse a few spices. I was worried as I stepped in that I might be pressured into buying spices that I didn’t need. But that was definitely not the case. Cindy was super helpful, giving us knowledgeable advice about the spices when we asked, but letting us browse also.

The aroma as you walk in is nuanced and amazing! I sampled some lavender-infused lemonade and then wandered and looked at all the spices (which takes a while). They have a great selection of gift sets at reasonable prices which would make a great gift for a foodie or grilling enthusiast. I’m thinking Mother’s or Fathers Day…

A fellow blogger, Rocío, had tipped me off to the fact that Savory allows you to buy in increments as small as 1/2 ounce, so you can buy just the amount you need for some of those eclectic recipes. Hubs and I bought some of the Homestead Seasoning to try on our chicken on the grill for dinner. It was fantastic – a little spicy with a sweet and savory edge to it. I also bought some cinnamon sticks to try in my next adobo recipe. I was amazed at the selection and and freshness of the spices.
