just saying!

Her 'But Im only 5 years old' and 'But its not my fault I said I could sell 60 by myself but cant even sell 30 of the very product that my own business is based on.' lines are wearing very thin.

She doesn't need to impress you though, does she? It's Lord Sugar, and I have a feeling he knows more about business than you.

Ma is this year's joke candidate. There always has to be at least one - remember it's a TV show primarily.

plus she's probably there to fill the BBC's ethnic quota

I can really see a 60+ year old business tycoon going into partnership with a stroppy Avon lady kid

I find it hard to get any real grasp of Susan's ability. On the face of things, it is highly impressive for a 21 year old to have set up a business but, frankly, these days it's pretty easy within days to set up a glossy website without there being any substance to the business behind it. In most tasks it seems to me that she just takes a questioning stance to every decision - either by asking for more information ( to the exasperation of others) or disagreeing (sometimes correctly) after the event. What interested me was her woeful lack of business sense on the task she Pm'ed - yes, I realise she won but by a whisker against a dire opposing PM who totally lost the plot - but she was very lucky to do so thanks to others good bargaining. How could someone who presumably has to economically source materials for her own business think it was a good idea to go to Mayfair and Covent Garden to buy? I am also wondering why all her teammates seem to have so little regard for her - in my experience those who are universally disrespected by their contemporaries do something to deserve it.

Pretty sure she said that the TEAM together would sell 60 of them?

Do feel if Karen Brady had a bigger say she would have been gone by now

Nick seems to put in a good word for her all the time

I agee with this, I'm just really not sure if Susan is displaying some sort of great buisness sense when disagreeing with others or if she's just lucky.

She seems to have a real problem getting her ideas across so I can completely understand why the others seem to given up with even trying to listen to her.

I just feel she's too young. When she's older, just a little older perhaps, I'm sure she'll be a fantastic business-woman, but right now, I find her spineless and finds herself getting pushed around constantly by the more capable candidates such as Zoe.
I still think Helen has this in the bag though and I personally think it's Leon's turn to go next week, so I reckon Susan will last a bit longer and may even get into the final, or the final 3, but I don't think she has the capability to win it. As somebody said above, a 60+ year old man, working with a 21 young business-woman 50/50?

IIRC, on the previous task she PM'd, Susan told her team to keep going east to buy the items as she said it was cheaper around there. It was the team members who chose to go to the more expensive places (although tbf she did forget this herself during the task).

We've seen her do a bit more than you say. On the first task, she demonstrated she could sell. On the third task, she showed that she could organise a team (as Gavin conspicously couldn't). On the sixth task, she showed an eye for an opportunity and the ability to negotiate. This week, her contribution was more in line with what you say, though I do have to say that, while her pointing out to Jim that he needed to be willing to negotiate on price did indeed come after the event, it probably never occurred to her that he needed to be told this before the event. Nor was it pointless, as they still had two presentations to do.

Now we've certainly seen some mistakes from Susan, and I don't dispute she's flawed. In fact, though she is my favourite contestant, I think there are some who are better than her. But I don't think she deserves some of the contempt some seem to feel for her.

Wow, yet another 'let's slag off Susan' thread.

How many is this you've started now, dave?

Fortunately for Susan, whether she impresses you is a matter of no importance whatsoever and, let's be frank, if you haven't been impressed so far there's very little that will change your mind at this stage.

I agree we saw her mention that she understood prices were lower in the East End and that was where they should go (a rather inaccurate stereotype of the East of London btw to anyone who actually does business there - other parts of London would actually be much cheaper to source items they were looking for) but the edit never allowed us to see why or how that didn't happen. Some decision must have been made and by the team led by her because they ended up where they did. Either she made that decision or ok'ed it - neither of which makes for an impressive PM.

    That's purely supposition.

We have evidence she told them to look further East - which was eminently sensible. She could have suggested other locations but she got the major point which was that central is expensive. We have no evidence of anything else other than that the team members did not follow her instructions.

It makes no sense to ignore the evidence we have and make specific and unsupported suppositions to shift the blame.

He is hardly slagging Susan off. He is using his opinion as a start for discussion, and is that not the point of the forums?

You are hardly likely to have made millions either being a teacher. What does it matter ?

Quite frankly I would expect anyone who has made their millions would not be posting on DS :D

It does not matter what people do or what they have made. It is a TV show first and foremost and everyone is entitled to comment on what they see.

There are probably a dozen threads altogether which have been used for slagging Susan off. At least one of which was started by the OP.

And believe me, if you look at the threads you'll see he is one of the people who has a massive bee in their bonnet about Susan's alleged uselessness.

I was just questioning the need for yet another thread.

It's just unclear why we need so many threads to do it. ;)

The big difference is that batman. hasn't started any pointless & repetitive topics about how Susan isn't impressing him, & he certainly hasn't bragged about his own business knowledge. & yes, everybody is entitled to comment on it, but doing so in such a self-important way is bound to induce criticism.

    I totally agree.

batman was only sharing his opinion, which is perfectly normal.

It just struck me as a needless pop.
