Ok so here's where i am at so far

I have been using preludedrews evervolv project that was posted for evo 3d mainly just for his aosp kernel i have yet to recieve the init.rc from the donor device to see what it does on boot that is different from our AOSP ramdisk thats why stuff aint mountin right its all there and SHOULD work but need the kernel pointing the right now

so i took the following approach
merged evervolv to update the missingstuff in the following folders
lib/hw/
xbin/
framework/ (for wimax stuffs)
usr/keychar/
build.prop

i then made an updater-script wich i will post as well

and flashed my creation through TWRP

ok so i get white HTC screen no boot animation but logcat will work and i can run commands from system/bin/sh as SU so thats a PLUS at least we know what i have done will create a stable booting enviornement we basically just need to compare the *.rc files from the donor device and i think i can get it goign :D
i have attached the updated build.prop i have used

we should get this going its pretty close to finishing the whole init.rc it stops where VOLD service starts soooo i think we can pull it up

Viper I tried having him do dd if of and got perm denied he can't get root through normal methods

So I didn't know of any other way to pull the boot.img

You forgot to attach the build.prop :p but good work, I have another idea for the boot.img, I just need him to get back to me. I looked for a SW update or something for this phone from the manufacturer and I didn't see one, so that sucks.

My apologies

I've also asked him to run

Adb pull /*.rc /initfiles/

But idk if he's done it or if it worked

it wouldn't let him do a cp, so we did this via cat file > /sdcard/file and every .rc and .sh file except ueventd.rc gave a file of 0kb. Also had him try cat /dev/mtd/mtd0 > /sdcard/boot.img but permission denied there too. Would be great to get it rooted and get the boot.img.

it wouldn't let him do a cp, so we did this via cat file > /sdcard/file and every .rc and .sh file except ueventd.rc gave a file of 0kb. Also had him try cat /dev/mtd/mtd0 > /sdcard/boot.img but permission denied there too. Would be great to get it rooted and get the boot.img.
Today or this evenin ill remote desktop with him and see if we can force root on the device lol maybe it'll have a download mode like Samsung phones who knows

I've been fiddling with the system dump and got the launcher to run by just moving all the deodexed Iida* apks and the WidgetHome.apk. Seems to work on my Desire fine, except there are no widgets (calendar, etc).. also no framework mod at all was required.. on an AOSP ROM (Redux)

I'll try replacing frameworks and stuff, but I think low-level hackery is not really required to run the UI

If we had aosp for our EVO 3ds we could 'backport' the stuff to a working framework and get it goin no prob I want a FULL port

Have you tried just putting the deodexed APKs on your /system/app? It might work with non-AOSP roms too

You need to put:

Iida*apk (except: Mail doesn't work outside Japan, Twitcheck doesn't deodex correctly)
WidgetHome.apk
Maintenance.apk (Calendar didn't appear to me until I added this one)

on /system/app (maybe signing them they will work on a non-rooted ROM)

Everything seems to work fine for me, except some slight graphic issues on WidgetHome with the scrolling (due to my slightly smaller screen).

I suppose I'll try that. Do you get all the functionality like in the video? Also was it a must to use adb or could I get away with using root explorer?

You'll hafta use adb for permissions but he said widgets don't work

I'm off in 4 hours and will have a 100% working flashable ROM I'd this is the case

I get all the functionality, but there's not much functionality at all. The only useful widgets are the calendar (it didn't work for me before due to the Maintenance.apk not being there, I believe), and then there are notes.. alarms.. and a world clock.

Twitter doesn't work, Mail isn't Gmail-compatible, and I haven't checked for more functionality, anyway it's quite pleasant visually.

Standard widgets can't be added to the Infobar part, which would have been great

You could use Root Explorer, just need to copy the Deodexed APKs to /system/app. Again, not sure if this works at all on a Sense ROM, although there are not any apparent framework dependencies so it should. It's just another launcher.

Here are the deodexed APKs: http://zen.itram.es/app_infobar_deodexed.zip

I've included all of them just in case, the ones that you need to copy are mentioned some posts before, maybe adding more APKs might bring some additional feature, although there are lots of KDDI and japanese crapware

Thx for this when I get home I will have a working flashable file for those who wanna play

Wow guys great, the standard Widgets go in the stock android home page, which you get by swiping to the left. At least that is how the actual phone works.

So page one has standard gingerbread and page two has the iida ui stuff, I'll post a video of it, the og videos don't show this functionality

Actually I have been using twitter and gmail just fine on the handset, maybe something missing still?

Since I can't found themes for this I changed the IidaPresetTheme.apk and created 2 themes.

IidaPresetThemeOriginalGrey, same as original but without blueish colors.

IidaPresetThemeSolidGrey just solid shades of grey.

    Just push IidaPresetTheme.apk to /system/app/
