History took place this week in the U.S.! President Obama signed the The Every Student Succeeds Act which aims to strengthen the U.S education system.
But why is it exciting?
If you may recall in the past I wrote about the future employees that will need to have art in their lives. Part of the new law refers exactly to this change - moving from STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) to STEAM...and the "A" you might understood refers to Arts.
The amendment refer to the art was suggested by Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici who successfully added the amendment to support schools that provide a well-rounded education to students through programs that integrate arts and music, into STEM courses. Bonamici is the co-chair of the Congressional STEAM Caucus, which advocates for educational programs that integrate the arts and teach students creative thinking in addition to technical skills. Lets hope more countries will follow the U.S!
