Food basics is good for a few things; Liquor store purchases, sales, and parking. They have low cost alcohol. Also, beer companies (dos equis did this most recently) give out free samples every couple of weeks.

Their food prices are not amazing, but they are reasonable. I think they price for the convenience of not having to drive down the road to shop-rite. Anything that is seconds from where I live is a plus for me. I must say-- if an item is on sale it comes down in price, tremendously. So it is a definite stop for bargain hunters.

If you need a semi large selection of food, then food basics is for you. Pull in and park in their parking lot or near their strip-mall that offers Chinese food, laundry service and more.

If you want to save, save, save, then keep driving.

      They offer:
Frozen goods, bread, cakes, ice cream, condiments, beer, liquor, fruits and vegies, cheese...etc

Check out the picture I posted for food basics. It explains their special 3X refund policy.

      One-it's closed.
Two-Key Food's is right there now, the business should be up soon I requested it...
Three-If you miss all those signs in there, the signs outside that say food basics, and their green carts, they're all still there because that new Key Food decided to be cheap and leave it there.
      Nuff' said.

It is not the best place to get food if you live off of microwavable and junk.
You can get some cheaper than usual pricing on organic food with fruits and veggies. The best part about the store is that you can get the cheapest wine in the area, roughly 3.99. It will make your day a bit more fun. I would recommend this place if you are trying to save a buck

Best alcohol prices around! Cheapest beer, wine, liquor in the area. Good food prices too. The deal with Food Basics is they only carry a few brands of each item, and the company buys in bulk for all their local stores. I love this place because it saves me money and is two minutes from my house.

Only go if you're desperate and need something last minute. Most of the staff are immature high school kids. They have a rodent infestation - I saw mouse droppings and plenty of evidence of mice activity when I took a box of aluminum foil from the shelf.

I went to grab hamburger bun and something had bit through the plastic! I looked on the shelf and saw big droppings. Rats? I understand all places have rats. But obviously they don't have control over it. I don't shop there anymore.

I appreciate that you can buy liquor here, but otherwise it's really not a nice supermarket. The parking lot is gross and frankly scary at night, and inside isn't much better.

Get the lamb shoulder chip last evening... Terrible!!!!!!!!! It smells like a .... Return and need to put same fresh air in my car or do detailing next couple of days!
Manager on charge Aramis Quezada asked me : "Are you want to return it and get money back?" Amazing question! Unbelievable! No! I want get shish-kebab party tomorrow and invite you and all manager's stuff to come!
Finally: no excuses! Poor management, low cost - low quality food! Everybody has to pay more attention during shopping at the cheap place like Food Basics in Glen Rock!

Not a good supermarket. For some reason, no matter what time of day I have visited this Food Basics, I have to wait on line for a fairly long time. You are NEVER in and out. Like another Yelper has stated, the parking lot can be scary if you are a woman visiting here at night. The store itself isn't that clean. I sometimes come here when I need a couple of items but do the bulk of my shopping at another super market. However I look to avoid this store because of the wait time I usually experience. If they had a self check out, or more cashiers on duty I would stop here slightly more often.

Food Basics is never going to get five stars unless they sell a variety of all items at below cost which isn't going to happen. It's a good store for what they do which is sell the items their parent company has bought in bulk. They started out not offering shopping bags but that has changed. However, I prefer to keep the Earth clean and still follow the old ways.
