“I couldn’t do this without David Benioff and Dan Weiss, the producers,” Dinklage says. “They were the first to call me and tell me about this part.”
HBO you’re quite simply the best place to work for you,” he continues. “You let artists create.”
This is the actor’s first Emmy win. Dinklage won out over nominees Mad Men’s John Slattery, Men of a Certain Age’s Andre Braugher, Justified’s Walton Goggins, The Good Wife’s Josh Charles and Alan Cummings.
The series won a Creative Emmy for Outstanding Title Design. The HBO series is also up for Best Drama Series later in the night.
