Executive Summary | Links for your weekend | 07.08.11

Four years worth of project files. Don't worry—I cleaned them up before I left.

Well, friends...this is it. My last day of work. I had planned to work work work up until the last minute, but when I took a quick visual inventory of my well-settled cubicle yesterday after lunch, I realized I should start tackling it right away. I made it only part way through these filing cabinets before 5 p.m. yesterday.

Today's to-do list:
  1. Clean out cubicle
  2. Compile a project status update for my boss
  3. Exit interview and turn in keys
It hasn't quite hit me yet. Or maybe I'm just less emotional over it than I expected to be. This was my first full-time job after graduate school, and I've been here for almost four years. I've seen and survived several waves of major staff turnover, seen programs and projects come on board and run their course. I've watched and learned as much as possible from my boss and others, and incorporated those lessons into my work. I've had opportunities to pitch new ideas, stretch limits, and change the way things work at work. I've been promoted and taken on new responsibilities. My tenure at this job has been almost as long as my marriage so far. Needless to say, this is going to be a huge change. But I think it will be a good change.

As always, I'm behind on my blog reading. But here are a few links for your reading pleasure.
