Report: '85 Bears to White House

Twenty-six years after they dominated the NFL with a 15-1 season on the way to a victory in Super Bowl XX, the 1985 Chicago Bears will finally get a chance to be honored at the White House.

Citing NFL sources, Comcast Sports Chicago reported Wednesday that the '85 Bears have been invited to the White House on Oct. 7 for a ceremony to honor the team many consider the greatest of all time.

The '85 Bears never made it to the White House because of the Space Shuttle Challenger explosion that killed its crew on Jan. 28, 1986, two days after the Bears defeated the New England Patriots 46-10 in Super Bowl XX.

Most of the players and some members of the coaching staff and front office are expected to attend, according to the report.
