This mediocre photo shows the forged ticket stub (look closely at the Liquid Paper + pencil “TUE.” and 4 in “24”) that got Jeff and me back down to the floor for the second Fort Worth performance, which eventually allowed Jeff to get on stage with the band. He knew what was coming during “People Get Ready” because we’d seen the Erwin-Center Austin show a couple nights before; Jeff, Chew, and I also met the band at the Four Seasons. Hi-larious. If only Jeff actually knew how to play guitar (he lied his way on stage), he might have been able to stay up there with U2 a bit longer. Security neglected to punch a hole in my stub when I accessed the floor that Monday night, and that miss was all the opening we needed.

We had earned second-row seats for the first Fort Worth night by skipping school – with my most awesome Mom covering us for the first few hours and locking our second place in line so that we’d attend class through second period – a compromise that she and I brokered (classic) – and camping out across the street from Sears and finally besting mall security, an unruly crowd, and even a rival line of scalper-gathered homeless folks.

It was a great few days. The shows began like this:
