I changed schools this year and found myself teaching 4th grade in a high poverty school. Our state and county funding is very limited due to the economy, but I have a very caring class of students who love to learn.
We recently finished our unit in science about animals and their adaptations. The students were very excited about science and I would love to extend their learning. We have one window in our room, but rarely have the shade open because of the view. We look out and see a parking lot, the other side of the building and heating/air equipment in a little courtyard area. I would love to open the window and observe nature and keep them excited in science and the outdoors.
The window has a window seat that is used everyday during our individual reading time. I want to give my students more opportunities to observe nature by placing a bird feeder in the window along with some binoculars and bird books. As an extension to this the students could take the binoculars and books out during our recess time and observe other areas on the campus.
Your donation to this project would allow my students the opportunity to take an interest in their own learning. They need to be exposed to nature and learn to care about our world. Please help make learning fun for my students!
