South China Morning Post: Asian student killed in fraternity initiation game in New York

An Asian American student was killed during his initiation into a fraternity at Baruch College in  New York, reports the South China Morning Post.

The game known as glass ceiling requires the pledge to wear a blind fold and something heavy on his back. He then must navigate toward a student calling him while others tackle him.

Pi Delta Psi which put on the game describes itself as an Asian American cultural fraternity. Baruch College in Manhattan is the oldest college in the City University of New York system.

Police say Chun Hsien Deng died of major brain trauma.

The University said the event which took place off campus was an unsanctioned event.

Investigators are looking into the possibility that the other students attending the event delayed calling for help.
