Filipino American wins Grand Slam–Emmy, Grammy, #Oscar, Tony

Let it Go from FrozenRobert Lopez, composer of Best Original Song winner Let It Go, became the first Filipino American to win an Oscar tonight.

He is also just the 12th person to win all four major awards–an Academy, Grammy, Emmy and Tony.

The grand slam is known as an EGOT(Emmy, Oscar, Grammy & Tony).

Lopez won with his wife Kristen Anderson Lopez for the song from the movie, Frozen.

It was performed by Idina Menzel who received a standing ovation from the Academy Awards star-studded audience.

Others to win the EGOT include Richard Rogers, Helen Hayes, Rita Moreno, John Gilgud, Aubrey Hepburn, Marvin Hamlisch, Jonathan Tunick, Mel Brooks, Mike Nichols, Whoopi Goldberg, Scott Rudin, and now Robert Lopez.

Lopez won a Tony Award for both Avenue Q and The Book of Mormon, a Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album for The Book of Mormon, and an Emmy for The Wonder Pets.
