The co-creator of How I Met Your Mother apologized on Twitter today for Monday’s offensive episode in which three white actors appeared in yellowface as kung fu masters.
The Huffington Post reported that Carter Bays tweeted:
“With Monday’s episode, we set out to make a silly and unabashedly immature homage to Kung Fu movies, a genre we’ve always loved. We try to make a show that’s universal, that anyone can watch and enjoy. We fell short of that this week, and feel terrible about it.”
But along the way we offended people. We’re deeply sorry, and we’re grateful to everyone who spoke up to make us aware of it.

This is the last season of what has been a very popular show, but many critics who commented on Monday’s episode lamented the show is ending on a low.
