DerekL
Hey I found this a week or two week ago, but I wasn't sure if this was for GTA 6 or something else. It still might not but I don't have anyway to check either, so I'm just sharing this to see what you guys think. I found these in an RDR2 file called propsets.meta, under "common_0.rpf/data/ai" so if you don't believe me you can check for yourself. This file appears to be referencing weapon models that aren't anywhere in the files, including ones for an L1A1 rifle and a Pistol referred to as a Browning, probably the Browning Hi-Power. Strangely there appears to be two variants for the Browning pistol, one silenced and one regular version. I don't what that's about but it definitely ain't from GTA V. Here are what I think the weapons they are referencing, aside from the AK47: These aren't from GTA V because GTA V's version of these sections have entirely different weapons, and the AK47 in that game is referred to as "W_AR_ASSAULTRIFLE" rather than "W_AR_AK47" For example, the below section is from GTA V, however it doesn't have any of the weapons references from above. These aren't new btw, they appear to have been in the game since the release of RDR2 on console, so I was kinda surprised nobody else found these. Sorry if this post seems a bit bootleg, but I wasn't expecting to be the one who found this. It's possible these are from a different game, but I can't be sure, so take from this what you will. Len Lfc
The Assault Rifle, Carbine Rifle, Advance Rifle, Special Carbine, Bullpup Rifle, Combat Pistol, Pistol .50, AP Pistol, SNS Pistol, Heavy Pistol and Vintage Pistol are all in GTA V. So it's likely left over from GTA V. skau, videotechx, Kerminator369 and 2 others 3
DerekL
No, the bottom section you are referring to is a section from GTA V's propsets.meta that I am using to compare with the version from RDR2. It's the same section, but it's missing the GTA V weapons WELLGAMER789, UnderMeister, rhaegar27 and 4 others
Tez2
Interesting find, as far as I know, the Heavy Rifle was a cut weapon from GTAV and it resembles the rifle, but the pistol is probably new. Len Lfc
Oh, right. I see. Hmm... interesting. Well, going back to Vice City, they did used to use real weapon names. Having to change them for new releases, due to copyright. So It wouldn't surprise me if these were for GTA VI, and they were just named after their real life models, internally? Lancaster and Litchfield Repeaters are referred internally to as "w_repeater_winchester01" and "w_repeater_henry01" for their models. I still don't know what the "W_J" before the L1A1 and the Browning pistols refers to, though. deadasdisco, DeltaV20, H-G and 1 other

MaccerKuntPaul
Seem to all be weapons that would fit nicely in a 80s setting also this suppressed variant? Weapon customization being cut or changed? I honestly wouldnt mind that, it would add more depth having to find the suppressed variant, like in san andreas, finding the suppressed pistol was the coolest sh*t. Space Cowboy
Nice find. I wonder if anything else has been found, like a list of vehicles or something. Back in the day people found a huge list of vehicles in Max Payne 3 files. I think there must be something else too, though it is probably hard to differentiate whether it's for an upcoming GTAO update or VI. Someone just didn't read the next posts before quoting As for the question, not exactly. GTA V has the Vintage Pistol (from L.A. Noire) and a few other weapons that are pretty old. It's a good sign, though. But if you were trying to use it as evidence in court it wouldn't hold up well. EGA_6
Just wondering, does this prove that VI will be set in the past? Weren't L1A1 and the pistol heavily used during the 80s? ArthurZussman
Wow. Finally something. That's very surprising. I think maybe they are testing the weapons in RDR2 just because right now its easier to test it on RDR2? Its weird anyway. But "Project Americas" was found in the archives of the same game, so we are just left wondering...

Maybe they're just using some old weapons in a modern setting or hell maybe there's a flashback to the 80s in a linear mission like North Yankton in GTA V and the old weapons are used ONLY there. But honestly I see this as a good sign, gives me a bit of hope for the 80s... Hoping for some legit leaks/rumours next year. EGA_6, DeltaV20 and Merquis 3 "It's Orthur, you dumbass!" Yea... This makes that project Americas more concrete imo. There was someone in the discord server saying how it could be RDR2 related because it's in the rdr2 game files and he refused to change his mind. Well this kind of proves that they could use GTA (VI) related assets in RDR2. NightmanCometh96 and DeltaV20 2 "It's Orthur, you dumbass!"

I'd wager it's less about testing weapons in RDR2, and more just trace files found in updated RAGE code. Since vehicles from GTA V were found in Max Payne 3, back in 2012. And I doubt they were using Max Payne 3 to 'test the vehicles'. Odds are it's just parts of the code that has been found as they're updating or working on RAGE, etc. I'm no expert, so the specifics or wording is probably slightly off. But I think it'd likely be something like that. NightmanCometh96, Patrizio, DeltaV20 and 2 others

Len Lfc
Oh, and btw. I should clarify. I'm not saying they aren't testing gameplay elements in a build of RDR2. They may well be. I know for a fact some studios do that in their previous games, when working on their next game. BGS are known for it. They used the V.A.T.S system for the slow-mo killcams in Skyrim, for example.
