HARVEY COUNTY, Kan. (KSNW) – “We believe, and have every indication, that this is the body of our missing person, Goodpaster,” says Sedgwick County Sheriff Jeff Easter.

Easter says they found a body around noon today, and he says it is the body of missing 33-year-old Scottie W. Goodpaster Jr. Goodpaster was first was listed as missing on Sunday.

Easter says the call came in around noon Saturday. They were told to look in the area of 72nd and Hoover Road in rural Harvey County.

“We appreciate you (media) getting the word out and the picture of that truck out to the public,” says Easter.

Sheriff Easter, who has been on the scene of that body found, says someone called the Harvey County Sheriff’s office Saturday morning to say they had seen a truck in Harvey County last Sunday. It was the truck police wanted to find last Sunday because they had information Goodpaster Jr. could have been inside the truck.

Police presumed he was dead after talking to witnesses who last saw him on Sunday.

The caller this Saturday gave the specific location of the area off 72nd and Hoover Road, where that caller says they saw the white truck.

“They just called today, after seeing a picture of the truck that was originally a truck of interest in the case,” says Easter. “We had that citizen call that told the (Harvey County) sheriff they though they saw the white truck in that time frame last week. Harvey County called us today and we walked the area and recovered a body.”

Easter says there will be an autopsy performed this week in Sedgwick County. Easter would not reveal what condition the body was in when it was recovered. He would also not say whether or not they uncovered any evidence to support the arrest of several suspects in the case.

Scottie W. Goodpaster went missing last Sunday. Officers were looking for a white truck they believed Goodpaster and at least one suspect were last seen inside on Sunday in the Valley Center area.

Prosecutors charged five people this Thursday in connection with the disappearance of Goodpaster, following a disturbance at a home in Valley Center Sunday.

The five people are Jeff Hillard, Heidi Hillard, Brian Bussart, Willie Earl Morris and Alexandria Scott.
