Megan Devine, a licensed counselor and grief advocate based in Oregon, talks about her work offering practical grief support through online courses. She is joined by Erin Matthes, Therapeutic Care Manager, and Sherie Mayo, Board President at Braveheart Volunteers.
Devine began her work in 2009, after witnessing the accidental drowning death of her partner. Her visit to Sitka is financed by a memorial fund in honor of Sitkan Ryan Kauffman.
Tonight (09-08-16), Devine will speak to therapists, teachers, medical professionals, clergy, and other first responders on how our ideas about grief “get in the way.” 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, September 8, at the Sheet’ka Kwaan Naa Kahidi.
On Friday (09-09-16), Devine will speak to about the small town ethics of grief and acknowledging the realities of grief. 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, September 8, at the Universalist Unitarian Fellowship Hall.
