Addis Ababa, 4 November 2020: The Chairperson of the African Union Commission Moussa Faki Mahamat wishes to congratulates H.E. Dr John Pombe Magufuli on his re-election as the President of the United Republic of Tanzania following the presidential, parliamentary and local council elections held on 28 October 2020.

He commends the people and all electoral stakeholders, Political Parties and Candidates, the Media and Civil Society Organisations for the peaceful conduct of the elections.

The Chairperson further encourages all actors to address any electoral disputes through the established legal and institutional architecture for dispute settlements, while preserving peace and stability.

The Chairperson extends his gratitude to His Excellency Goodluck Jonathan, former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, for leading the African Union Election Expert Mission which observed the conduct of the elections in Tanzania.
