A former Mississippi state representative was found shot to death Sunday night while cutting grass.According to WATN in Memphis, the body of former State Rep. Ashley Henley was found just after 10 p.m. at 12 Patricia Dr. in Water Valley. Her body has been sent to the state for an autopsy.Officials said she appeared to have been mowing the grass outside a burned trailer when she was shot. Henley's sister-in-law, Kristina Michelle Jones, was found dead inside the same burned trailer at the same location in Dec. 2020, according to the North Mississippi Herald. Henley has called her sister-in-law's death a murder, writing on Facebook on May 24 , "I will leave no stone unturned in my pursuit of truth."News of Henley's death has spread across the state and former colleagues have taken to social media to express their shock and sadness over her death. Henley served the 40th district, which covered parts of DeSoto County, from 2016 to 2019. She lost her 2019 re-election bid by 14 votes to Hester Jackson-McCray and then sued in state court to try to overturn the election results.
