Each week, some of the world's most experienced pandemic-focused journalists and policy experts join the Earth Institute's Andy Revkin in a review of the biggest news and miscues of the week and discussion of what to watch for next. The regulars are Pulitzer winner and MSNBC analyst Laurie Garrett, longtime NBC science correspondent Bob Bazell, Jon Cohen of Science Magazine and Wendy Wertheimer, who for decades worked on epidemic policy with top leadership at the NIH and World Health Organization. This week's special guests: - Heidi J. Larson, an anthropologist and the founding director of the Vaccine Confidence Project. Larson headed global immunization communication at UNICEF. - The Belgian virologist Peter Piot, who is married to Larson, is one of the discoverers of the Ebola virus and has worked on a range of deadly infectious disease, including HIV/AIDS and, most recently, the SARS-CoV-2 virus. He survived a serious battle with COVID-19 that struck in March.

"A physician's oath never says to keep your mouth shut." So sad to hear dogged public-health defender and drug-company truth digger Dr. David Egilman has died at 71 of a heart attack. Saw his early roots when I lived in "Septic House" off campus at Brown University in the late 70s with a batch of med students (including David and Jim Revkin, MD).
