Welcome to the second annual Favorite Pokémon Tournament here in the Pokémon Polls board, where our goal is to determine the favorite Pokémon of the users here at the PokéCommunity! This will be a tournament that lasts several months, where we'll pit almost all the Pokémon from different types together to determine a winner. After we know the winner of each type, we'll add all of those Pokémon to a final poll, where the winner(s) will be crowned champion, and be known as PokéCommunity's favorite Pokémon!

If you haven't had the opportunity, please read the Rules/FAQ to find out more about the tournament:

Spoiler:

Now that you know what the tournament is all about, what are you waiting for? Polls will remain open until October 11th, so get voting!

Dragon is my favorite type out of all of them. But instead of checking off like 3/4 of the list, I'm just gonna put down one vote: Zekrom

I would like to think y'all can get why I voted for Zekrom.

Not big on this type

Dratini/Dragonair, I think they're the most aesthetically pleasing dragons. I think they really capture that mythical aura part you sometimes associate with dragons rather than being big and scary. I do like Dragonite, but it's just not that pleasing to the eye for me. I also really love Kingdra.

I know! Dragon types are rare, and usually well executed designs. It's tough to narrow them down.
I love: Kingdra, Altaria, Flygon, Garchomp, Hydreigon, Dragalge, Reshiram, Tyrantrum, Dragonair, and Goodra.

I chose these as my top 5.

1. Dragalge - Favorite Gen 6 pokemon. Beautiful and decadent all at the same time. Sometimes I wonder why more people are not talking about her beautifully haunting design.
2. Flygon - Not sure if he is more badass or cute. The pink googles and tail accents against the green scales is just perfect.
3. Altaria - Divine. Heavenly. Whatever, it's just a perfect design. I love anything fluffy as far as design as well.
4. Kingdra - I loved seadra, even though he was lacking in power...well, Kingdra was a definite upgrade. The coral encrusted sniper and pristine design met my high expectations for a Seadra evo.
5. Tyrantrum narrowly beats out Garchomp and Hydreigon. It's just beautiful, the frilly white collar and gold crown spikes. I usually don't like the bulky and tough sorts of pokemon, but Tyrantrum is definitely regal!

Flygon, Palkia, Druddigon, and Tyrantrum.

Flygon may be my favorite Dragon. Just something about his speed and power, and his disguise of being a bug. Ninja dragon!

Palkia is basically aquatic Godzilla with space powers.

I don't know why I like Druddigon, but something about him is just endearing to me. He's so cool, you don't even know he's cool.

Tyrantrum. T. rex. What more needs to be said?

Here's who were my best Dragons:

Latias & Latios: Among my fave Legendaries ever. I kinda like how similar the two are and they can both play really good roles on a competitive team.

Reshiram, Zekrom & Kyurem: My bias towards 5th Gen got in here, these three are my fave Legendary trio ever because I love the concept and story behind them. Kyurem being able to use one of the other two to take on a new form was also a really interesting twist.

Goomy line: I pretty much fell in love with this pseudo-legend line when X & Y came out. The fact Goodra is more cuter than most pseudo-legends is what sets it apart. Also, hail lord Goomy hahahahaha

Altaria: So fluffy! One of my fave 3rd Gen Pokemon, and now it even gets an even fluffier Mega complete with Fairy-type, and we all wanted a Dragon/Fairy. It may not be on a new Pokemon but Altaria is still too cute, and definitely one I want to use when I play OR/AS!

Instead of putting here the ones I voted for because I voted for like a whole bunch of them and it'll take forever to list them all, I shall put here the ones I didn't vote for: Kingdra, Druddigon, Dragalge, Tyrantrum, Zygarde. I just didn't have enough experiences with them to consider them on my list.

Hydreigon and Haxorus are my two favorites. The former has one of my favorite designs in the series, and it's certainly helped by the fact that battling Ghetsis' in BW is grueling and requires good strategy to defeat given its wide coverage. Iris using one in B2W2, while nowhere near the same degree of difficulty, is still interesting nonetheless (especially on Challenge Mode and rematches where it has the same moveset). As for Haxorus, that thing hits super hard and has Dragon Dance, and looks sick as well.

I also voted Salamence, Altaria and Reshiram, those three are all standouts to me - Altaria is one that's quite under-appreciated. I didn't vote Druddigon but I want to give mention to that as well.

I'm not really a huge fan of dragon types. They were always really annoying to fight and there are just so few of them that they've never really stood out to me. I really like Garchomp, but the one time I trained one, I decided to do it in the endgame so I didn't really get to use it much since I was too focused on completing my Pokedex instead. So it left no impression on me. :(

I voted for Palkia, though, because it is one of my favourites. I'd never use it because I don't like using Legendaries but I love its design. It doesn't feel quite as over-designed as most Legendaries do, to me, and I like that it's pink (and it... kinda... looks like male genitalia up top so that always makes me laugh lmaoooo). I think controlling space is really cool so... yeah. Palkia.

Really weird to see that the Hoenn dragon's popularity here is basically inverse to their strength with Altaria and Flygon being the popular ones while Salamence, the Latis and Rayquaza are less so.

My favourite Dragon is Garchomp. It was interesting to not have an airborne Dragon for a change, and that was all the more emphasised by being ground type too. It's easy to forget sometimes that Pokemon stands for Pocket Monsters, and there are few pokemon that encompass being a monster quite like Garchomp.

My vote goes to all the dragon except for Duddrigon. Dragon type is one of my favorite types, after all. :v

I used to be a pretty big fan of Hydreigon; its offensive stats were above-average, specifically on special side of things, and to take full advantage of that, it had some great moves in its arsenal, with few examples being Surf, Flamethrower, Fire Blast, Dark Pulse, Dragon Pulse, and Draco Meteor. With combination of any of these attacks, it was able to take opponents down without much trouble at all, really.

Personally, I've used Hydreigon plenty of times, and it had never ceased to amaze. Though, what made me turn away from it in recent months is, now that fairy-type is introduced, it's four-times effective against them. Although there aren't many of them in terms of quantity, people still utilize fairy-types; nowadays, almost everybody has one on their team. If it weren't for that, I still would have been a big fan.

As for second, I would say Garchomp. Even though it does have a four-times weakness similarly to above, what keeps it sort of distinct from Hydregion is that it's effective against ice and not fairy, which is a type that we don't see used too often. Also, appearance-wise, I believe it looks brilliant; it's a land-shark!

I always liked Palkia as a legendary, and the Water/Dragon combo was cool (even though Kingdra did it first). Besides Palkia, Goodra is probably my second favorite. The way it just drips and bounces around is so cute.

Apart from the super obvious (my avatar and signature says it all), I also voted for Altaria, Dialga, Palkia, Axew line and Noivern.

But in general, dragon types are my absolute favorite.
