Welcome to the second annual Favorite Pokémon Tournament here in the Pokémon Polls board, where our goal is to determine the favorite Pokémon of the users here at the PokéCommunity! This will be a tournament that lasts several months, where we'll pit almost all the Pokémon from different types together to determine a winner. After we know the winner of each type, we'll add all of those Pokémon to a final poll, where the winner(s) will be crowned champion, and be known as PokéCommunity's favorite Pokémon!

If you haven't had the opportunity, please read the Rules/FAQ to find out more about the tournament:

Spoiler:

NOTE: Because of the limited number of poll spaces, not all eligible Pokémon have been included. If you want to vote for an unlisted Normal-type, check the "Other Pokémon" option represented by a (?), and leave a post with your vote.

Now that you know what the tournament is all about, what are you waiting for? Polls will remain open until October 25th, so get voting!

With there being roughly 100 different Normal-type Pokémon available to choose from, I just wanted to let everyone know that I did the best I could to narrow it down to 24 different families in order to fit them into the poll. Remember, if you see a Pokémon that you like is missing from the poll, feel free to vote for the "Other Pokémon" category at the bottom of the list, and leave a post letting us know who your vote is for. I'm sure I missed one or two obvious choices (sorry Bidoof!), but hopefully this'll give us a fairly accurate picture of PC's favorite Normal-type Pokémon!

Voted for the Meowth, Happiny and Starly lines. Staraptor's one of my all time favorites , and definitely best among the generic birds. Happiny is just adorable obviously. And Meowth has been growing on me in the past generation, although I don't even remember seeing it in Kalos.

Despite being the largest type in Pokemon, Normal's not a type that I like much. But there are three Pokemon that got my votes: Staraptor, Diggersby, and Arceus.

Staraptor is easily one of the best birds in the games, having good Attack and Speed stats, while also getting Close Combat and Reckless. Diggersby because of that video of shofu's.

Arceus is my favorite Normal type, and is actually one of my top 5 favorite Pokemon. I know it gets made fun of a lot because it's supposed to be the god of Pokemon but it can be enslaved by a 12 year old, almost gets itself killed in Arceus and the Jewel of Life, and the Mega Mewtwos have a higher BST than it. But it's still a force to be reckoned with; there's a reason why this thing is a major threat in Ubers. And I like its design, good movepool, and versatility thanks to Multitype.

(I love normal type pokemon!)

I voted for Tauros and Cinccino and other, for Exploud!!

I like Noctowl too (I remember first time I saw a hoot-hoot... aww), and Pidgeot (since the anime) , eevee (we all know why), Lickylicky, Porygon-Z, Bouffalant, Unfezant, Sawsuck (but I consider it more like a grass type) and Heliolisk (I consider it more like an electric type than a normal type)
I loved Zangoose when I first played Ruby.

My favorite would have to be Chansey line, so that's what I'm voting for.

Happiny, its pre-evolution is cute in almost every possible way. If I were allowed to keep such a thing as pet, would definitely accept; who wouldn't? There are plenty of other Pokémon that could be portrayed as adorable and whatnot, but I believe this one stands out most. Well, at least in my eyes!

As for its evolution, Blissey, it's pretty cute, too. Though, reason why I'm fond of it is more because of its battling ability, which it does great when things come down to that. Although its Defense stat might not be too well (could be taken down with only a single physical attack, in most cases), it's got heavy Special Defense, so in term of special hits, this Pokémon is able to withstand plenty. Plus, it also has access to support moves such as Aromatherapy and Wish, which could be beneficial for your entire team all-together.

Chansey's pretty great, too, due to similar reasons as Blissey. Give it one Eviolite, and it could even more deadly.

I went with Eevee and Staraptor. I feel like I don't even need to explain Eevee. Cute little Pomeranian lookalike that has the potential to be anything. Staraptor is really cool and I see it as an example of when every aspect of a pokemon's design are on point from it resembling a Harpy Eagle to it's stats of being a quick hard hitter as well as having appropriate abilities like Intimidate and Reckless, and lastly the moves fit it too like Brave Bird and Final Gambit. I much prefer it when every example of a pokemon's design fit together even if it is visually understated as opposed to very detailed visual design but with shoehorned moves and abilities. I feel the latter situation applies to a lot of legendary pokemon which is why I think a lot of people tend to get bored with legendaries.

My votes go to Persian, Tauros, Miltank, Porygon2, Porygon-Z, Snorlax, Smeargle, Swellow, Staraptor, Cinccino, Diggersby, and Ditto. I also like Dodrio, Braviary, and Linoone.

Ditto and Smeargle because of their concepts. Cinccino, Miltank, and Porygon2 because of their cuteness. Linoone because it's a great HM slave and because it has Pickup, and the others because of their cool designs and great power (yes, I'm counting the RBY days for Persian).

Slaking - One of my 1st shinies. So fun to battle with. Destruction!
Zangoose - Really cool design. Can't wait to use one in AlphaSapphire (ow8)
Ditto - Very cute and silly concept. :3 Also fun to battle with ever since Imposter.
Porygon2 - The '2' stands for ''2GoodInBattle''
Other - Bidoof - I'm not even joking. Bidoof should be the only thing listed on the poll and everything else listed as "Other." ;)

My adventures with 'dinner' in Platinum were some of my most memorable moments while playing pokemon. So for that, Staraptor gets the thumbs up from me. :) I'm pretty indecisive when it comes to choosing favourites, especially from such a huge type but Staraptor will always be a standout for me. :p

I feel that Zangoose and Staraptor are also pretty similar in regards to their overall design. Guess normal types had more badasses than I thought. :D Lastly, Porygon2. Nothing else needs to be said.

Here's who I voted for in this poll:

Eevee: Because well, it's Eevee and it's cute.

Chansey line: I do love pink Pokemon, but they're great special walls and also cute.

Starly line: My fave of the early route birds, mainly because it's one of the few that actually remains useful throughout the game. And Staraptor gets Close Combat which counters many of its major weaknesses.

Snorlax line: Not only would a certain user be sad with me if I didn't vote it, but I think they're really strong and cute.

Spinda: I don't mind how weak this thing is. Its gimmick is something I love about it, all those spot patterns on its face that are always different.

Smeargle: It's another cutie, and who doesn't love having a paintbrush for a tail?

Buneary line: My fave Normal-types of all time, not only due to being cute (and owned by one of my fave characters in the anime) but also Lopunny's Mega Evolution really defines a "cute bruiser".

Minccino line: One of my fave 5th Gen Pokemon ever, and that's mainly because it learns some good multi-hit moves to make use of two of their abilities. Plus they're so fluffy!

Bunnelby line: I'm not into most early rodents, but Diggersby tho. A rodent that is actually usable competitively, and you have Huge Power to thank for that.

Meloetta: Cute, and I love how its form change sequence is shown in the anime, the fact it's a shout-out to transformation sequences in popular magical girl anime shows. I also like how it gets useful secondary types as well.

Castform: Like seriously, I'm a huge fan of gimmick Pokemon and again it's another cute one that makes use of weather conditions. Also, I wanted to vote to make a certain Castform fan happy.

I have tons of Pokémon that I vote.

Ditto, because it basically can become almost every Pokémon available, and I find it unique in its own right.

Eevee has gained my spot because it's a cute critter which can evolve into numerous Eeveelutions which are also cute looking.

Taillow lines, because it can become quite a threat when battling in Hoenn. It also has blue color, which is one of my favorite color.

Castform, for being unique that it can change types that it can adapt to almost any kinds of weather.

Starly lines, because its final form, Staraptor, is already an ace in battling. I win battles easily thanks to it.

Buneary, because I like it when seeing a certain Pokémon trainer in the anime (Dawn, that is) owns one.

Both Minccino and Cinccino may seem cute, but they can pack quite a wallop in the battle. Their Hidden Ability, Skill Link, helps a lot to maximize some of their moves too.

Meloetta, because it's cute and pretty good for a singer too. Its Forme change sequence in the anime is stunning as well.

There's a lot that fall under the normal category that I like so for that reason I'll just comment on the ones that were in the poll that I voted for :)

Swellow, Minccino, (these are two of my favourite Pokémon from their respective generations), Raticate (its moves Super Fang and Hyper Fang always used to fascinate me when I was younger for some reason lol) Persian (it's majestic and also... PAY DAY lol) and Kangaskhan, I remember I always visited the Safari Zone back in the day specifically to find one lol :)

I voted for heaps again so I'll explain a few (and kick myself for forgetting Exploud)

Staraptor - Staraptor has a simple and yet amazing design and is also viable in battle, especially in-game but it does have competitive uses. Honestly this is one of my favourite pokemon overall, it's simply amazing.

Kangaskhan - Same situation as with Staraptor, it has a great design and is also viable in battle. It has always been a favourite of mine, again one of my favourite overall, but it's also a powerhouse thanks to X/Y. Plus it's a kangaroo and I'm Australian so that's something of a given I guess xD

Castform - I love it's design(s) and how it not has such an interesting and original concept (there are some with similarities but nothing quite like Castform) that also ties in really well with the Hoenn games.

Arceus - Okay yes, the Mega-Mewtwo's have higher stats and there is the 1o-year-old enslavement thing. However this guy has a really cool bit of lore coupled with a majestic design fitting of the god of the pokemon world. On top of that he's very versatile in battle and a total powerhouse.

Melloetta - Not only is she versatile, but she has one of my favourite concepts and designs for a legendary pokemon. I've always been captivated by this pokemon.

Meowth, Snorlax, and Furret.

Meowth is just a cool little cat that throws more money at things than Kickstarter. Persian is simply a more graceful and less goofy version of Meowth, which makes him lose some charm, but gain some style.

Snorlax is my favorite Normal type, and a strong contender for my favorite Pokemon of all time. S jolly fat guy who loves food and makes for the world's best bean bag chair. Munchlax is just a gimmick to me, one that does nothing to improve Snorlax, but can never diminish him either.

Furret! Cute little weasel! Sentret is aight, I guess. But Furret is so cool! Vote for Furret!

Remember in the Celebi movie when they need to go to the lake, and the wild Pokemon are guiding them? And Furret's in the long grass like "Follow me!", then he dives down and has to keep popping back up so they can see him? So adorable!
