    POISON

Welcome to the third annual Favorite Pokémon Tournament here in Pokémon General, where our goal is to determine the favorite Pokémon of the users here at the PokéCommunity! This will be a tournament that lasts several months, where we'll pit almost all the Pokémon from different types together to determine a winner. After we know the winner of each type, we'll add all of those Pokémon to a final poll, where the winner(s) will be crowned champion, and be known as PokéCommunity's favorite Pokémon!

If you haven't had the opportunity, please read the Rules/FAQ to find out more about the tournament:

    Spoiler:

Now that you know what the tournament is all about, what are you waiting for? Polls will remain open until November 6th, so get voting!

  • My favorites are:

Zubat/Golbat/Crobat - Fast, flying bloodsuckers, spamming Supersonic. They're very useful for early obtainable Pokémon and actually resist fighting which can't be said of the regional birds.

Venonat/Venomoth - Aside being the hero of Choice Quest, these two are a lot more interesting than most of the basic butterflies. Venomoth can actually learn a good bunch of amazing moves of many types and Quiver Dance!

Spinarak/Ariados - These spiders are just a pair of old favorites of mine, perfectly for the Halloween theme now. :D

Croagunk/Toxicroak - One of the only fighting type Pokémon I don't find boring and Dry Skin is a great ability, I love it!

Venipede/Whirlipede/Scolipede - Actually useful bugs. Speed Boost, that's all I need to say. I love to use this one competitively.

Skrelp/Dragalge - Their names may look ugly, but they're pretty cool Pokémon. Poisonous corral dragon, it works.

  • One of the more intriguing types to me, if used well, they are just amazing.

    Voted for:
Bulbasaur line - basically because of Ash's Bulbasaur, love that little guy
Croagunk line - one of my favorite fighting types ever, dual typing makes it deadly
Trubbish line - no matter what people say I love these Pokemon, very useful movesets
Venipede line - Scolipede is one of my favorites to use in competitive battling, that Attack and Speed Boost tho!!

  • I voted for..

Arbok --> Maybe because of the anime, but I always got a special love for this pokemon.
Nidoking --> My first favorite pokemon when I was younger
Crobat --> My "real" favorite poison type :)

But after I send my votes I realize I forgot about Victreebel!!! T_T

  • I went with the Bulbasaur line. Bulba is one of my top five favourite pokémon probably due to nostalgia, cuteness and Ash's in the anime. I always tend to pick it in Kanto over Charmander ever since I was a child.

I decided to be generous and add some votes on for Arbok and Victreebel as well. I don't like them as much as Bulbasaur, but I like them about as much as the pokémon I voted for last week so I thought screw it. It looks like they aren't faring too well anyway.

  • Poison may be one of the types I don't like as much as some others, but there's still some beloved toxic creatures I have affection towards.

Bulbasaur line: A classic, and my fave Kanto starter as well.

Nidos: Both lines are great offensively, and versatile in many roles.

Zubat line: I started off not liking the bat, but Crobat's usefulness managed to save the evolution line here.

Oddish line: One of my 1st Gen faves, mainly because I love cute stuff.

Venonat line: Mainly voted for the design, and the fact Venonat is fuzzy but Venomoth is great on its own as well.

Tentacool line: It's a Water-type, I had to do it. While it is annoying while travelling on water, it can at least do some useful things.

Dustox: Another cute one, at least I think it's cute.

Roselia line: One of my fave Grass/Poison lines ever. Always been a go-to choice in nearly every Pokemon game I played so far.

Gulpin line: I actually started loving this adorable ball of stomach lately, and Swalot is a fairly bulky tank as well.

Venipede line: I voted this because it's strong but also because of a certain PC user, so I knew I had to think of him here.

Foongus line: I had fun annoying my opponent's Rock-type team with this thing in a Monotype Random on Showdown a while back. Annoying but great with support moves.

Skrelp line: I love the design of this one, a leafy sea dragon with some actual dragon-like traits. Not what you expect but it's a unique type combination as well.

And I also voted all three of the 4th Gen options. They were all unique in design and battling style so not much to talk about them individually here.

  • Scolipede, Nidoking and Nidoqueen, Arbok and Weezing. Tbh I kinda of don't like the other ones, and Scolipede is beauty! Can't really say much 'bout them. Just that Scolipede really surprised me in B/W in my team, and the Nidoking and Nidoqueen were my mains during Yellow playthrough. Arbok and Weezing was always a favorite since I was much younger. I always found Team Rocket's (Anime) pokemon choices to be really cool!

  • I have just about zero opinion about poison types. I've trained a few but... nothing is standing out to me. I guess I'll vote Bulbasaur's line just because it's the most nostalgic for me??

  • I voted for:

Bulbasaur Line - I really liked Ash's Bulbasaur in the anime and the Seed Pokemon was my MVP in my recent Pokemon Red Grass Monotype. :)

Roselia Line - I really like the design of all three and Roserade is Gardenia's signature Pokémon.

Oddish Line - The original Petal Dancer. It really helped me in my Grass Red Monotype along with the Bulbasaur line. The line has a straightforward likeable design too.

  • I voted for a majority of the grass types (duh) and Toxicroak. Toxicroak has really grown on me after using it in competitive play. Not one I would have voted for otherwise, but now it's one of my favorites.
